Alice White Introduces Cabernet-Merlot

Popular Australian Brand Adds New Blend to Portfolio

Concord, CA. (February 1, 2006) — Alice White, one of the fastest-growing Australian wine brands in the United States, has added a new wine to its lineup of popular premium Australian varietals. The Alice White 2005 Cabernet-Merlot – a blend of 65% Cabernet and 35% Merlot – will be available at retailers nationwide in early March.

Blends, or wines that contain significant amounts of more than one varietal, have historically been less common in this country than in Australia, but as U.S. wine drinkers continue to embrace offerings from Down Under with enthusiasm, it is inevitable that store shelves will increasingly feature wines with hyphens on their labels. The “Aussie-ness” of these wines may be part of their appeal—along with the bright fruit flavors Australian wines are known for and their great value for the money.

"For premium wine drinkers looking for something a little different, a blend of two popular varietals like Cabernet and Merlot is an exciting option,” said Tim Peters, Brand Director for Alice White. “We continue to see great enthusiasm in the market for Australian wines and feel confident that the Alice White Cabernet-Merlot will be well received."

The 2005 Alice White Cabernet-Merlot features appealing elements of each varietal: plum and dark berry aromas, along with vibrant fruit flavors and well-integrated smoky, mocha, oak notes. The wine is smooth and round on the palate.

Alice White offers critically acclaimed and consistent "best-buy" choices in eight popular Australian varietals: Chardonnay, Shiraz, Merlot, Cabernet-Shiraz, Cabernet Sauvignon, Semillon-Chardonnay, Lexia and new Cabernet-Merlot.

Alice White is imported by Canandaigua Wine Company, the popular-priced and premium wine producer of Constellation Wines U.S., which is part of Constellation Wines, the world’s largest wine business, an operating division of Constellation Brands, Inc. (NYSE: STZ and STZ.B) ("CBI"). Constellation Wines U.S. encompasses four of CBI's U.S. wine businesses: Canandaigua Wine Company, Icon Estates, Pacific Wine Partners, and North Lake Wines. Leading brands include Arbor Mist, Cook’s, Covey Run, Inglenook, Monkey Bay, Robert Mondavi Private Selection, Talus Collection, Vendange, and Woodbridge by Robert Mondavi.
